Abandon - Meg Cabot

Abandon (Abandon Trilogy, #1)
Serie: Abandon Trilogy #1
Release date: 2011
Stars: 3/5

Though she tries returning to the life she knew before the accident, Pierce can't help but feel at once a part of this world, and apart from it. Yet she's never alone... because someone is always watching her. Escape from the realm of the dead is impossible when someone there wants you back.

But now she's moved to a new town. Maybe at her new school, she can start fresh. Maybe she can stop feeling so afraid.

Only she can't. Because even here, he finds her. That's how desperately he wants her back. She knows he's no guardian angel, and his dark world isn't exactly heaven, yet she can't stay away... especially since he always appears when she least expects it, but exactly when she needs him most.

But if she lets herself fall any further, she may just find herself back in the one place she most fears: the Underworld.

This book kind of frustrated me. You see I'm a huge sucker for romance and mythology and well this book has it all. The story revolves around the story of Hades & Persephone, and really after reading the Goddess Test I couldn't get enough of that story. That's kind of the reason why I picked this book. That and ofcourse the beautiful cover and the intriguing synopsis. So the story was okay, but let me tell you why the word frustrating keeps popping up while I'm trying to write a review. You have to understand that I really like books with a lot of flashbacks, so you get the story a little step at a time. There were a lot of flashbacks in Abadon, but they were somehow very frustrating for me, like there were to much of them! You only get information through the flashbacks. Also, the main character Pierce (like the name though) is kind of childish. Sure I know she's suppose to be 17, but it seems she's much younger. She's very difficult to relate to. Still I couldn't help but be interested in her story. Then there is John, really I hate that he is named John! He's the keeper of the Underworld, not Hades like I innitialy thought. He's the mysterious hot guy. I kind of like him, with his funny remarks. Another think I didn't like about the book is the instant love thing that's going on! I mean that's so not realistic and I hate it when that's going on in the books! I have to admit that I liked that they didn't kiss for a very long time, so the tension is building to the moment they finally kiss! Okay when I'm rereading my review it looks like I don't like the book. Let's get this straight, there were some point that made the book not awesome, but it's an okay book. The story is nice and the characters are nice and I'm proparbly going to read the next book in the series, cause really the end is kind of a cliffhanger. Do I recommend it? Well maybe for the ones who like to read a story with the Hades and Persephone mythology and who want to read a fun book just to kill time.

Until I Die - Amy Plum

Until I Die (Revenants, #2)Serie: Revenants #2
Release date: 2012

Kate and Vincent have overcome the odds and at last they are together in Paris, the city of lights and love.

As their romance deepens there’s one question they can’t ignore: How are they supposed to be together if Vincent can’t resist sacrificing himself to save others? Although Vincent promises that he’ll do whatever it takes to lead a normal life with Kate, will that mean letting innocent people die? When a new and surprising enemy reveals itself, Kate realizes that even more may be at stake—and that Vincent’s immortality is in jeopardy.

In Die for Me, Amy Plum created a captivating paranormal mythology with immortal revenants and a lush Paris setting. Until I Die is poised to thrill readers with more heart-pounding suspense, spellbinding romance, and a cliff-hanger ending that will leave them desperate for the third and final novel in the series.

After reading Die For Me, I really couldn't wait to read this one. This cover is even better than the last! I read this book in one day and that is a good sign. I couldn't put the book down, I wanted more of Kate and Vincent! In Until I die, we learn tons more about the Revenant and in addition there is greater character development. I really like that we still have the gorgeous Paris setting. It's a great addition to the story. We learn more about the Revenant and by that I mean mnore about the history and background. We also learn more about the characters. Jules and Georgia are more present in Until I Die. I really like Jules, he's so sweet and has lots of humour. I was really glad that the romance in this second book was much more passionate, I'm a huge sucker for romance so I'm really greatfull! The ending is really shocking and it will make you long for the final book! I really love how Amy made such an ending, though it was really frustrating I can see why she made the end the way she did. Until I Die was a really good book, with lots of emotions!

Die for Me - Amy Plum

Die for Me (Revenants, #1)Series: Revenants #1
Release date: 2011

In the City of Lights, two star-crossed lovers battle a fate that is destined to tear them apart again and again for eternity.

When Kate Mercier's parents die in a tragic car accident, she leaves her life--and memories--behind to live with her grandparents in Paris. For Kate, the only way to survive her pain is escaping into the world of books and Parisian art. Until she meets Vincent.
Mysterious, charming, and devastatingly handsome, Vincent threatens to melt the ice around Kate's guarded heart with just his smile. As she begins to fall in love with Vincent, Kate discovers that he's a revenant--an undead being whose fate forces him to sacrifice himself over and over again to save the lives of others. Vincent and those like him are bound in a centuries-old war against a group of evil revenants who exist only to murder and betray. Kate soon realizes that if she follows her heart, she may never be safe again

This book has an amazing, dead - gorgeous cover! The colours, the girl, the dress, it just has it all! Still the story didn't appeal to me. I don't like zombie books or movies, so it took me a very long time to pick this book up. I'm really glad I did! Not only is the cover amazing, the story is good. Not amazing, but good enough to keep me reading and picking up the second book in the series. The concept, the way the undead where lay out, was truly unique and intriguing. I really liked the descriptions of the Paris settings, very romantic and gorgeous. It gave extra charm to this story. Also it was a refreshing change from the usual high school setting. There was talk about art, museums and Cafe's and ofcourse the house of Vincent. Kate is the main character and I really liked that she thought everything through, she was not just some stupid teenager who rushed into things. The thought about the consequences before making a decision. She was smart, strong and just real. Vincent, gosh what can I say about him. He's this hot mysterious guy, very sexy with a french accent and really sweet. The romance between the two of them isn't a love at first sight thing, it's growing and just so sweet. The end was good two and I immidiately picked up the second book in this serie. Overall, Die for me is a great book with a unique concept about the undead and romantic scenes.

Goddess Interrupted - Aimee Carter

Goddess Interrupted (Goddess Test, #2) Serie: Goddess Test #2
Release date: 2012

KATE WINTERS HAS WON IMMORTALITY.

BUT IF SHE WANTS A LIFE WITH HENRY IN THE UNDERWORLD, SHE'LL HAVE TO FIGHT FOR IT.

Becoming immortal wasn't supposed to be the easy part. Though Kate is about to be crowned Queen of the Underworld, she's as isolated as ever. And despite her growing love for Henry, ruler of the Underworld, he's becoming ever more distant and secretive. Then, in the midst of Kate's coronation, Henry is abducted by the only being powerful enough to kill him: the King of the Titans.

As the other gods prepare for a war that could end them all, it is up to Kate to save Henry from the depths of Tartarus. But in order to navigate the endless caverns of the Underworld, Kate must enlist the help of the one person who is the greatest threat to her future.

Henry's first wife, Persephone.

Oh Gosh this book is such an emotional rollecoaster. I laughed and I cried and I was frustrated and relieved! I read this book in one breath and was up most of the night. I think the author did a really good job of taking some elements of the Greek Mythology and mixed it with new elements. It's a really good book! I really looked forward to the reunion of Kate and Henry, but it wasn't what I expected at all! Henry was kind of a ass in the most part of this book, he became distant and didn't confide in Kate. That was very frustrating! Because of that Kate is doubting herself and Henry's love for her. On top of that she has to find the first love of Henry and her only sister Persephone. I really felt for Kate and she was very strong. There was one particular scene that was so heartbreaking! It was a scene between Henry and Persephone, which Kate had to witness and I cried really hard! It was so sad. In Goddess Interrupted Kate grows into a independent, stubborn, selfless and strong person who is determined not to lose anyone else she loves. Henry was seductive and secretive as always, but sometimes really frustrating because he doesn't say what he feels! Then there is this whole thing with Persephone going on. You see him struggling and sometimes he took some stupid moves, that made me feel like slapping him in the face! But then again, he can be really sweet! Goddess interrupted is a really great book which leaves you hanging with a huge cliffhanger! The end is just so right and yet so frustrating because now I have to wait till 2013!

The Goddess Hunt - Aimee Carter

The Goddess Hunt (Goddess Test, #1.5)
Series: Goddess Test #1.5

Release date: 2012

A vacation in Greece sounds like the perfect way for Kate Winters to spend her first sabbatical away from the Underworld...until she gets caught up in an immortal feud going back millennia. Castor and Pollux have been on the run from Zeus and Hades' wrath for centuries, hiding from the gods who hunt them. The last person they trust is Kate, the new Queen of the Underworld. Nevertheless, she is determined to help their cause. But when it comes to dealing with immortals, Kate still has a lot to learn....

This is a short story between The Goddess Test and The Goddess Interupted. If you have a change to read this one, I highly recommened it! In The Goddess Hunt you get to read from Henry's point of view and I really liked that! He brings a different perspective to the goings-on within the book. Now you just get to know him more, his feelings and thought about everything. I still like Kate, she's a fiercy girl. I love how she stand up for everything she believes and doesn't let power stand in the way of that. So this story is about Kate's six months off and she spents it in Greece with James. I really like James but I hope it's not going to be a love triangle! So far there's not such a thing! They stumble upon other Gods in this book and Kate decides to rescue them! You just have to read it for yourselves, it's a great addition to the series! After this book I really was looking forward to the next one! So I recommened the series highly!

IF SHE FAILS...

This one kept popping up by my recommondations and really I didn't feel like reading this one, so I kept putting it away. Finally I decided I should give it a change and Goshhh I really really liked it! It's not the first book I wouldn't want to read and it turned out to be a great book (see a trend going on!!). So let's start with the Greek Mythology, I've always had a love of that and this book is a good one for Greek Mythology lovers. The story is about Kate, she's a responsible girl who always puts everyone first. There wasn't anything annoying about Kate and the emotions she showed was absolutely captivating. Another amazing character is Henry, he's so mysterious and lonely. And very sexy hihi. You feel he's hurting and you just want to help him and Kate. There was a part where Kate failed a test and that part was so heartbreaking, I almost cried! The story is just so full of emotions and details! The end is so suprising and yet it feels just right. Really this one is a must read!

Taken at Dusk - C.C. Hunter

Taken at Dusk (Shadow Falls, #3)Serie: Shadow Falls #3
Release date: 2012

Kylie Galen wants the truth so badly she can taste it. The truth about who her real family is, the truth about which boy she’s meant to be with—and the truth about what her emerging powers mean. But she’s about to discover that some secrets can change your life forever…and not always for the better.

Just when she and Lucas are finally getting close, she learns that his pack has forbidden them from being together. Was it a mistake to pick him over Derek? And it’s not just romance troubling Kylie. An amnesia-stricken ghost is haunting her, delivering the frightful warning, someone lives and someone dies. As Kylie races to unravel the mystery and protect those she loves, she finally unlocks the truth about her supernatural identity, which is far different—and more astonishing—than she ever imagined.

With the first book, Born at Midnight, C.C. Hunter drew me in the world of Shadow Falls. I instantly fell in love with the character, the world, the developments. The second book, Awake at Dawn was even better. Now I've read Taken at Dusk and really I can't wait for the fourth book to come out! Kylie, the main character, developes so much more in Taken at Dusk. You read about her struggling with the ghosts, her journey and her identity. I found myself easily relate with her and her story. You learn more about Kylie self and her family. She discovers new powers and eventually learns more about her true identity. While we find out what Kylie is, it's still vague and not what I expected at all. I really think it's going to be more explained in the following installment, Whispers at Moonrise. I can't point out enough that in this third book of the series it's also about so many things. Not just about her love life, but also about the problems of her friends, her camp leader, her parents, her own problems and yeah her love life. But it's still not the main issue and I really like that for a change! I have to say that I've come to pick a side, while I said I loved Derek and Lucas both, I'm now more of a team Derek. Can't help it really with his sweet character. Taken at Dusk is full of twist and thrills and I really recommened the book, the series!

Once Burned - Jeanniene Frost

Serie: Night Prince #1
Release date: 2012

She's a mortal with dark powers...

After a tragic accident scarred her body and destroyed her dreams, Leila never imagined that the worst was still to come: terrifying powers that let her channel electricity and learn a person's darkest secrets through a single touch. Leila is doomed to a life of solitude...until creatures of the night kidnap her, forcing her to reach out with a telepathic distress call to the world's most infamous vampire...

He's the Prince of Night...

Vlad Tepesh inspired the greatest vampire legend of all—but whatever you do, don't call him Dracula. Vlad's ability to control fire makes him one of the most feared vampires in existence, but his enemies have found a new weapon against him—a beautiful mortal with powers to match his own. When Vlad and Leila meet, however, passion ignites between them, threatening to consume them both. It will take everything that they are to stop an enemy intent on bringing them down in flames.

So I picked up this book yesterday evening and I read it almost in one breath. It was everything I hoped and more, I really love the book. The book start with Leila and her life. You figure out she has powers and how hard her life is. You also figure out that she's friends with a vampire and soon is kidnapped by other vampires. She's forced to use some of her gifts and then meets Vlad. My God, Vlad! I've met him in the Night Huntress serie and I just love that he got a serie of his own. He's dark, mysterious, sexy and strong. The tension between Leila and Vlad is dead on hot, kind of like Bones and Cat, but hey I'm not complaining! Jeanniene Frost does a good job describing things in all the glorious details, didn't expect any less. I also like the humor in the book, Vlad is hilarious. I really can't wait for the next one in this serie, unfortunately we have to wait very long! Until then, please read this book! It's just awesome!
