Blood promise - Richelle Mead

Serie: Vampire Academy #4
Release date: 2009

Rose Hathaway's life will never be the same.

The recent attack on St. Vladimir's Academy devastated the entire Moroi world. Many are dead. And, for the few victims carried off by Strigoi, their fates are even worse. A rare tattoo now adorns Rose's neck, a mark that says she's killed far too many Strigoi to count. But only one victim matters . . . Dimitri Belikov. Rose must now choose one of two very different paths: honoring her life's vow to protect Lissa—her best friend and the last surviving Dragomir princess—or, dropping out of the Academy to strike out on her own and hunt down the man she loves. She'll have to go to the ends of the earth to find Dimitri and keep the promise he begged her to make. But the question is, when the time comes, will he want to be saved?

Now, with everything at stake—and worlds away from St. Vladimir's and her unguarded, vulnerable, and newly rebellious best friend—can Rose find the strength to destroy Dimitri? Or, will she sacrifice herself for a chance at eternal love?

I really love this serie! I've been a fan since the beginning and I can't help but get sucked in every time. This book was a very emotional rollecoaster. It begins with Rose leaving school so that she can find and eventually kill her great love Dimitri. No!! I could not believe that she really would do that. She begins searching in Rusland, where Dimitri comes from. She meets his family and that is very emotional and my god how hard was it for her and for me to read that. I was really sad that Rose had to leave Liss and Adrian and I also didn't like the way Liss became, but that made more sense in the end of the book. When Rose eventually meet Dimitri.. she couldn't kill him. She hesitated and he took his change.. Only he didn't kill her, but want to awaken her. To become Strigoi. Omg the tension was killing me. She knows that Dimitri is Strigoi now, but she couldn't stop loving him and couldn't kill him. You hurt with Rose and you just can't stop reading or put the book down. The last quarter of this book was intense, amazing and I almost cried. What happened at the end.. it killed me slowly. But then at the end.. The note.. Wow amazing!! You just have to read it for yourself to know what I mean. And ofcourse I can't forget to mention Abe, I really didn't know what his deal was or who he worked for. But what you come to know in the end, wow who expected that? I certainly did not see that one coming! Amazing book, can't wait for the next one!
