Serie: Nevermore #1
Release date: 2010
Cheerleader Isobel
Lanley is horrified when she is paired with Varen Nethers for an English
project, which is due—so unfair—on the day of the rival game. Cold and
aloof, sardonic and sharp-tongued, Varen makes it clear he’d rather not
have anything to do with her either. But when Isobel discovers strange
writing in his journal, she can’t help but give this enigmatic boy with
the piercing eyes another look. Soon, Isobel finds herself
making excuses to be with Varen. Steadily pulled away from her friends
and her possessive boyfriend, Isobel ventures deeper and deeper into the
dream world Varen has created through the pages of his notebook, a
realm where the terrifying stories of Edgar Allan Poe come to life. As
her world begins to unravel around her, Isobel discovers that dreams,
like words, hold more power than she ever imagined, and that the most
frightening realities are those of the mind. Now she must find a way to
reach Varen before he is consumed by the shadows of his own nightmares.
What a appropriate titel this is, really nevermore! Omg I can't believe there are so many people loving this book! It really sucked big time. I didn't even finish it! After I read perfect chemistry I picked this one. I mean the whole concept is a like. Girl has to work together with a boy she doens't like and ends up falling for him. I didn't even get to the last point. The part I read is only about Isobel and her friends freaking out over Varen, who is some guy with eyeliner (ewww!!). Maybe if is was written from Varen's point of view it would be better. He IS mysterious, but in the part I read you barely know something about him. It's al about pathetic Isobel, how hard her life is at school because she doens't fit in anymore, she can't eat with anyone. Do I have to go on? I really don't see what people like about it. It's a pathetic, whiny book. You should not read this, god even I couldn't finish this one.
