Half - Blood - Jennifer Armentrout

Half-Blood (Covenant, #1)
Series: Covenant #1
Release date:  2011

The Hematoi descend from the unions of gods and mortals, and the children of two Hematoi-pure-bloods-have godlike powers. Children of Hematoi and mortals-well, not so much. Half-bloods only have two options: become trained Sentinels who hunt and kill daimons or become servants in the homes of the pures. Seventeen-year-old Alexandria would rather risk her life fighting than waste it scrubbing toilets, but she may end up slumming it anyway. There are several rules that students at the Covenant must follow. Alex has problems with them all, but especially rule #1:Relationships between pures and halfs are forbidden. Unfortunately, she's crushing hard on the totally hot pure-blood Aiden. But falling for Aiden isn't her biggest problem--staying alive long enough to graduate the Covenant and become a Sentinel is. If she fails in her duty, she faces a future worse than death or slavery: being turned into a daimon, and being hunted by Aiden. And that would kind of suck.

Can't believe I haven't reviewed this one yet! I loved this book. Many people think it's just a copie of the Vampire Academy of Richelle Mead, but I don't agree. Ofcourse there are the similarities, but what book is totally original in this genre nowadays. So I will ignore the similartities and just continue. It's about Alexandria, Alex, she's smart, sarcastic (god love her humor) irresponsible and she thinks she is bad-ass. I loved her instantly. She's a Half-blood. There are the Hematoi, they are pure bloods and they are not allowed to 'date'. Then there are the Daimons, they are the bad guys.  Alex wants to become a Sentinel guard, but she has to train to keep up with the rest (she's been away for a couple of years). Meet Aiden, her trainer. God he's a sexy bad-ass and ofcourse he's a pure blood, so totally of limit, which makes him ofcourse even hotter. I can't believe the tension between Alex and Aiden, it was killing me! Aiden proves himself crushworthy and you can't help but encourage the relationship between Alex and Aiden. His brother Deacon is a nice addition to the book. You learn that Deacon is everything that Aiden is not. He drinks a lot, is irresponsible and the fun loving one, while Aiden is the serious, responsible one. Then ofcourse there is Seth. What to say about him. He's al the mystery. We will learn more about him in the next one! So all I have to say is that you should really read this one!
